
The Kerman murals are part of the city’s Downtown Corridor Revitalization Project. The murals were made possible by the Caltrans Clean California Grant Program. Caltrans awarded nearly $490,000 to the city.
The grant program is part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 2021 Clean California initiative. Through the program, funds go to local communities to beautify and improve local streets and roads, tribal lands, parks, pathways and transit centers.
In a post by the Kerman Police Department, they state that each letter in “KERMAN” showcases powerful imagery representing the agriculture, heritage, local landmarks and the unity of the community.
