Glowing 52-foot sundial in Early holds time capsule for 2051

EARLY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Did you know that the largest sundial of its kind in Texas can be found in the Early Town Center Park?

The Horizontal Dial is hard to miss, coming in at 52 feet long and 24 feet tall at the point. It was created by former Early High School students, Reese Estess and Aryn Lesley, with around $107,000 raised in donations and grants from the city.

At night, the sundial glows, with cut-outs of stars, moon, and planets. Underneath the rock garden lies a time capsule that is to be opened on the city’s 100th birthday in 2051.

This sundial is officially registered with the North American Sundial Society.
