Higginbotham, 40, was sought in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred Monday night at a residence on Arno Gremillion Road in Mansura. Deputies responded immediately after the Avoyelles Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the disturbance. The victim was secured and found safe at the scene, but the suspect fled before deputies could make contact.
Following the incident, Higginbotham was entered into the National Crime Information Center (N.C.I.C.) database as a wanted person. He was wanted on multiple felony charges, including one count of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated domestic abuse assault, one count of domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. He also faced five misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer. His bond was set at $75,000.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat credited the arrest to strong cooperation between the community and law enforcement partners.
“This is a prime example of what we can accomplish when the public and law enforcement work hand in hand,” Dauzat said. “Together, we can make our communities in Avoyelles Parish a safer place for all our families.”
The Sheriff’s Office expressed its gratitude for the public’s assistance and reaffirmed its commitment to community safety. Authorities continue to encourage residents to report information about other wanted individuals by calling (318) 253-4000 or emailinginfo@AvoyellesSO.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
