The ceremony, which took place at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, celebrated the cadet’s achievements, and will now allow them to join other juvenile correctional officers at facilities across the state.
“Juvenile Correctional Officers help ensure a safe and secure environment for rehabilitating and transforming the young lives we serve,” said DJJ Commissioner Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb. “I am so proud of our new officers’ commitment to our youth as they strive towards a brighter future.”
Three Columbus natives were assigned to the Muscogee Youth Development Campus in Midland. Officials say the cadets completed a 200-hour program and passed a written test that evaluated their knowledge and performance.
