WATCH: West Virginia youth soccer players high-five Lionel Messi

CINCINNATI (WBOY) — A youth soccer club based in West Virginia had a unique experience on Wednesday, and a few players even got an unexpected high five from Argentine professional footballer Lionel Messi.

FC Alliance South Soccer Club based out of Charleston, WV went to the July 16 FC Cincinnati vs Inter Miami CF match

at TQL Stadium and had the opportunity to a “Center Circle Experience” where they spread a “Mercy Health” flag out over the field.

While it was not planned for the players of the club to meet Lionel Messi, a few of them received a high five as he walked passed them after they spread the flag. The players’ faces say it all.

FC Alliance players and coaches also got to stand on the side of the soccer pitch as the match went on, which was closer than the original seating.
