TMZ reported Griffen was onboard a Delta Air Lines flight departing Chicago for Minneapolis when he was accused of creating a disturbance.
Minutes after the plane took off, it returned to O’Hare International Airport so that staff could have “an unruly passenger removed.”
It is unclear if Griffen was arrested in connection to the incident.
He played 12 seasons in the NFL, 11 of which were spent with the Vikings. Griffen was a four-time Pro Bowl selection for Minnesota and accumulated double digit sacks three times in a Vikings uniform. His best season came in 2017 when he registered 45 tackles and 13 sacks on the way to being voted to Associated Press second-team All-Pro.
