
NPD said it responded to Fourth Street just after 8 p.m. on Sunday to investigate a disturbance report. Novato PD said the group surrounded the victim in an attempt to rob him but fled the area before they were able to take anything. The victim suffered minor injuries and was released at the scene.
Novato police said they worked with a school resource officer to identify the main suspect, who was on Marin County Juvenile Probation.
“The investigation also revealed this incident was gang-motivated,” said police in a social media post.
The teen was taken into custody at his home on Tuesday where police said they located evidence of the attempted robbery. He was remanded to the Marin County Juvenile Hall for robbery, participating in a street gang, and violating his probation terms.
