Multiple tornadoes touch down in Wisconsin Wednesday

Central and southern Wisconsin felt the brunt of Wednesday’s severe threat. A compact area of low pressure (M.C.V) aided in the development of scattered low-topped rotating thunderstorms during the early portions of the afternoon. These went on to produce multiple tornadoes, 5 of which have been confirmed as of this morning.

Our very own meteorologist Owen Szarley witnessed this tornado at close-range near Sauk City. He came across minor damage in a nearby subdivision.

Storm chaser Corey Bull was further away but was still able to get a view of the same tornado and the associated mesocyclone. 

Storm chaser and Stateline native Joe Navickis caught this pair of tornadoes near Ridgeway, Wisconsin. That is in Iowa County in the southwest portions of the state. I say pair because you have the main tornado on the right with the associated satellite on the left. A satellite tornado develops independently and dances around the much larger tornado. 

The National Weather Service will be busy the next few days conducting surveys. With Wednesday’s storm system and cold front now to our south and east, we won’t have to worry about severe weather potential today or tomorrow!
