WHITESBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Whitesburg man was arrested on Wednesday morning after allegedly being found with dozens of opiate pills and thousands of dollars in cash during a traffic stop.
Trooper Matt Gayheart posted on Facebook that just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, Kentucky State Police (KSP) had pulled over Charles Tackett, 75, when a pill was found in plain view in his vehicle.
Officers with the Whitesburg Police Department (WPD) assisted with the stop, bringing along K-9 Sully, who alerted law enforcement to the presence of narcotics.
KSP wrote that 30 oxycodone tablets, 17 hydrocodone pills, 2 Xanax tablets, and a Suboxone tablet were allegedly found in the car.

Tackett was arrested and charged with:
Disregarding a stop sign
Failure to signal properly
First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense—10 or more opiates
Second-degree trafficking on a controlled substance, first offense—less than 20 opiates
Prescription controlled substance not properly contained—first offense
He was lodged in the Letcher County Jail. The drug investigation remains ongoing.
