Falls Church woman pleads guilty to causing $42K in damage to USPS trucks

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A woman pleaded guilty Monday to causing over $42,000 in damage while employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS), according to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Lolita Brickhouse, 31, of Falls Church, was charged with causing damage to property belonging to the United States.

According to court documents, on Jan. 16, Brickhouse was ending her shift as a mail carrier when she was unable to find her cellphone. She then proceeded to accuse and insult other employees and supervisors of stealing her phone and damaging property in the process.

Court documents said Brickhouse knocked over and threw objects around the postal facility while threatening to call the police.

The USAO states that Brickhouse then took a set of keys to a USPS vehicle and rammed it into another USPS vehicle with high force, which led to the second vehicle hitting an additional company vehicle.

According to the USAO, she then got out of the car she was driving and used her metal water bottle to shatter the driver-side window. Two USPS vehicles were damaged beyond repair during the incident.

Brickhouse is set to be sentenced on October 16, where she faces up to 10 years in prison.
