Accused dognapper arrested on battery charges in Rockford
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Deputies arrested William Crowe, 39, for allegedly prying open a door and attacking a man in his apartment.

Officers were called to the 3000 block of Prairie Road for reports of a man breaking into a residence. The victim told authorities he confronted Crowe at his back door when he heard him trying to break in with a crowbar.

The suspect punched the man three times in the face and then took a dog inside the apartment, court documents show. He had visible injuries, deputies reported.

A witness corroborated the victim’s story.

Another witness who was outside the residence told officials he saw Crowe breaking into the home.

Crowe is charged with domestic battery that caused bodily harm, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespassing while people were present and criminal property damage.
