
MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman has major injuries after trying to cross the railroad tracks in Madera on Tuesday, the city’s police department said.
Officers say a woman was struck by a train south of Olive Avenue in Madera at about 5 p.m. She was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
According to police, it appears the woman tried to cross the railroad tracks while the train was passing. They add that this is the second train collision with a pedestrian in July in Madera.
Following the incident, the police department reminds residents to be safe around train tracks, to cross only where legally permitted and when it is safe to do so.
