Rowan County dispute on highway leaves person shot in the head by family member: Sheriff
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A person is in critical condition after a shooting between family members, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, deputies were called to the shooting on US Highway 601 near Sells Road, just outside the city limits of Salisbury. At first, they were told it was a road rage shooting; however, it later came out that both people involved were family members.

Both people were found at the scene, one of whom was shot in the head, according to authorities. That person was taken to Baptist Hospital and remains in critical care. The other person involved was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.

It appears that only one vehicle was damaged in the incident, and Highway 601 reopened around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16.
