Fans gathered on a hot summer day to hear from the Portland Fire leadership and former athletes who will be a major part of the team come 2026.
One major announcement came from Interim President Claire Hamill who announced that former Portland Fire star Jackie Stiles will be returning to help out with the team.
In a video message to fans played at the event, Stiles said, “In my opinion, Portland is the best place for a WNBA team. The fans are incredible, they’re first-class. I wish I could be at the launch party, but I’m with you in spirit.
The launch party featured a number of activities and companies, but by far the most popular was the new collaboration between Nike and female-founded brand TOGETHXR. The brand sold out all their “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports” shirts in two hours.
The team will officially be in action next WNBA season.
