CMPD officers responded to the Walmart at 3240 Wilkinson Blvd before 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, after staff reported a man had walked out with nearly $230 worth of stolen items.
The suspect, identified as Victor Roberts, 36, is accused of stealing several items, including several cases of beer valued at over $100, fried chicken, cheese, and laundry detergent.
According to Mecklenburg County court records, when police tracked Roberts to his vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, he refused to get out of his car, instead reaching around inside the vehicle while repeatedly claiming he had a gun and threatening to shoot.
Court documents state that officers pulled him from the vehicle as he continued to resist. During the alleged struggle, CMPD said Roberts tried to grab one of the officer’s firearms and bit the officer on the left hand and arm, leaving visible scratches and bite marks.

Roberts is currently being held on a $300,000 secured bond.
This case is due back in court at the end of July.
