Kentucky man turns himself in after journal allegedly uncovers rape of 15-year-old

OWENSBORO, Ky. (FOX 56) — “I’m here to turn myself in for having sex with a minor,” that’s what George Baize allegedly told Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputies on Tuesday afternoon.

Baize was subsequently arrested and charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

According to an arrest citation, a woman who was reportedly romantically involved with Baize went through her 15-year-old niece’s journal. Written inside were detailed accounts of alleged sexual encounters with the 35-year-old man that began in October 2024.

When she confronted Baize, court documents note he said in part, “I’m sick of the secret; it was a huge mistake. I am truly sorry; I messed up big time.”

The woman had called the sheriff’s office before Baize’s arrival on July 15, and the deputies were told he was on his way to turn himself in.

He was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
