ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A trial date has been set for a Joliet man, who was 17 when he was accused of killing a Rockford man on Division Street in 2021.

Amari Rathe, now 21, will stand trial beginning Monday, December 15th, 2025.

Rathe is accused of killing a 20-year-old victim, who was never publicly identified by officials, in the 400 block of Division Street on March 22nd, 2021.

Police said the victim was found at the scene, suffering from gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Rathe was charged as an adult in the case, and is facing First Degree Murder.

He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail on $40,000 bond.
