The school board is expected to meet to vote on offering Jarrett the position at a closed session Wednesday night. Jarrett is also expected to be in attendance, Eyewitness News has learned.
Jarrett is a former teacher and principal at Hononegah.
In March, Jarrett announced he would not seek renewal of his contract at Rockford Public Schools, a role he has filled since 2013.
“I still want to be a superintendent. Rockford is a really special place for me. There are other opportunities, I’m sure, will present themselves in time. I’m ready to seek something different,” he said in an interview earlier this month.
Hononegah School Board President David Kurlinkus said the board is looking for someone who can maintain the expectations set by outgoing Superintendent Mike Dugan, who is set to retire at the end of this school year.
“We have a program in place that that does, does a very good job preparing our students for what they do, whatever it is, after they get our high school, we want to continue doing that. We we we owe it to our students. We owe it to our taxpayers. We owe it to our parents. And that’s what we’re going to try to do,” he said.
