Columbus PD arrests suspect accused of shooting man to death on Hearthstone Drive

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department announced on Wednesday that a person accused of shooting a man to death near Hearthstone Drive was taken into custody.

Police arrested 18-year-old Joriyen Gordon on Thursday after he was accused of shooting 21-year-old Jaques Banks on July 3, resulting in his death.

According to Columbus PD, officers responded to the 4800 block of Hearthstone Drive where upon arrival, they located Banks, who was pronounced dead in the front yard.

A preliminary investigation following the incident, revealed Gordon as the suspect in the shooting.

Gordon is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He is schedule to appear in court on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
