Woman charged after deceased infant found in trash bag; child was in her care

(WPHL) — A Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged after a baby she was caring for was found dead inside a trash bag in Camden, police say.

According to Camden County Prosecutors, 43-year-old Enony Gee was caring for a friend’s infant in mid-April through mid-May.

A witness had told police that whenever they would visit her residence on the 1200 block of Lakeshore Drive in Camden, Gee would not allow them to see the infant and that they never saw the infant inside the home.

On May 19, the witness obtained access to Gee’s second-story bedroom where she was allegedly spending time with the infant, saw the unconscious child, and called 911.

When officers arrived, they located the deceased male infant in a trash bag within a bassinet.

Detectives determined that Gee sent threatening text messages to the witness on the day the deceased infant was discovered.

Police say that although a post-mortem examination was conducted, the cause and manner of death could not be determined at that time due to the condition of the body.

DNA results from the New Jersey State Police Laboratory confirmed the identity of the infant as a 4-month-old W.H. of Philadelphia, on June 10.

On June 11, Gee was charged on July 11, 2025, with second-degree Desecration of Human Remains and second-degree Witness Tampering.

On July 14, Gee was taken into custody in Philadelphia by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Task Force – Philadelphia Division. She was remanded to the Riverside Correctional Facility in Philadelphia, pending extradition to New Jersey.

Detectives spoke with the biological parents of the infant and confirmed that Gee had been caring for the infant for them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Matthew Kreidler of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at (856) 930-5355 and Detective Brandon Bolger of the Camden County Police Department at (609) 519-3981. Tips can also be sent to CAMDEN.TIPS.
