Volunteers of America North LA adds seven new board members

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Volunteers of America North Louisiana (VOANLA) has announced seven new board members, bringing the total to 29.

New members are:

Katherine Douthitt, co-founder of SouthSton Solutions LLC and an attorney at Sycamore Land and Title.
Jeanette Garrett, a retired trial and appellate judge.
Taylor Jamison, director of regulatory and political affairs at NextEra Energy Resources.
Jay Manno, president of Southland Printing Company, Inc.
Jordan McCart, owner and manager of Air Systems, LLC.
Art Schuldt, Jr., founder partner of SGB Architects, LLC, and one of the founding partners of Housing Solutions Alliance, LLC.
Dr. Elizabeth Wadhwa, pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Ochsner LSU Health.

VOANLA is also welcoming Jonathan Reynolds as the new treasurer. Dr. Sheyenne Carper returns for the second year of her two-year term as board Chair, Melissa Flores returns as Vice Chair, and Dr. Ruby C. Scroggins returns as secretary.

The responsibility of the board member role includes providing strategic oversight, championing the mission of VOANLA, and using financial stewardship to bridge an annual $2.7 million funding gap between funding received and the costs of the care provided.

Volunteers of America was founded in 1896 by Ballington and Maud Booth. The North Louisiana division began with the opening of a shelter on Texas Avenue for women and children in Shreveport in 1935. The mission of Volunteers of America was, “to reach and uplift all people and bring them to the knowledge and service of God.”
