San Jose neighborhood residents ordered to shelter in place due to gas leak
(KRON) — Residents of a neighborhood in San Jose are being asked to shelter in place due to a gas leak, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Firefighters are on the scene of a vacant home on the 1100 block of Piedmont Road.

According to SJFD, the gas line was struck while digging. Residents of six homes in the surrounding neighborhood are being asked to shelter in place.

The incident is expected to be resolved by 1:30 p.m., fire officials said.

Piedmont Road is closed in both directions between Rockport Avenue and Berryessa Road. People are being advised to avoid the area.

PG&E personnel responded to the scene, according to SJFD.
