North Carolina man drowns in North Myrtle Beach after suffering medical problem, coroner says

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A North Carolina man vacationing on the Grand Strand died Saturday at a local hospital after being pulled from the ocean a day earlier in North Myrtle Beach, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Todd Hilliard, 63, of Kernersville, North Carolina, was pulled out of the water near 36th Avenue

South in North Myrtle Beach on Friday afternoon, the coroner’s office said. He is believed to have suffered a medical problem that caused him to lose consciousness while wading or swimming.

The coroner’s office ruled his death a drowning.
