Kyle Joseph Robinson, 37, of Louisa, Virginia, is accused of raping a woman who was visiting the Yountville area to attend a wedding in May 2015, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said. The victim had been staying in a home with a group of her college friends.
In a report to the sheriff’s office, the victim told authorities that she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect inside the residence. A man who was initially suspected of the rape was exonerated by DNA testing, NCSO said.
Additional DNA testing that was conducted years after the sexual assault led to a hit on a profile belonging to Robinson, the sheriff’s office said. Robinson, according to authorities, was one of the guests staying at the Yountville home during the wedding.
Detectives with the sheriff’s office traveled to Virginia and arrested Robinson at his home with assistance from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.
Robinson was flown back to the Bay Area on Saturday and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections for felony charges of rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of an unconscious person, rape of an intoxicated person and sodomy of an intoxicated person. Bail was set at $500,000.
