Monroe Fire burning in mountains in Sevier County, at 700 acres
SEVIER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Fire crews are on scene of a wildfire burning southeast of Monroe in Sevier County that started Sunday afternoon.
The Monroe Fire is burning in an area of mixed timber and is currently 700 acres, according to Utah Fire Info. The fire is currently visible to drivers on I-70.

Approximately 40 to 50 structures in the area are threatened and evacuations are underway per the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office. Crews from Fishlake National Forest are coordinating with the county to implement evacuations on Monroe Mountain, with locations including Magleby and Monroe Meadows. Monroe Canyon Road is closed and air resources are currently on scene.
Sevier County Emergency Management is asking anyone who is evacuating the mountain to do so going down the Koosharem side of the mountain.

Fire crews are asking people to avoid the area and not report the fire unless new activity is seen.
