Local Health Club Expanding Offerings

Three years ago, Lakeland residents Emily and J.D. Frizzell opened the doors to Lakeland Health + Fitness. Nestled in the Huff N Puff Rd area, the now community staple has already impacted the lives of many residents of 38002.

The state-of-the-art, members-only studio doesn’t remind you of a typical gym. Instead of loud music, lots of people, and intimidating machines, Lakeland Health + Fitness is spacious, welcoming, and calm.

After opening in 2022, the couple noticed that there was a high demand for personal training. “Our neighbors here in Lakeland are busy professionals, parents, and grandparents. Many of them wanted to make a big change in their health, but didn’t know how to start. This is where our individualized, hands on approach became a perfect fit for so many” J.D. explained.

“Personal training is incredibly effective, but it is definitely a premium product. We wanted to find a way to help more people, and that’s where our new small group personal training program came in”, continued Emily.

Small group personal training combines the individualized programming and hands-on coaching of PT with community and accessibility. SGPT is about half the cost of traditional PT. It is the fastest growing concept in fitness nationwide, and LHF is the only gym in the area to embrace it.

The Frizzells, both local educators, started their gym as a passion project to make a positive difference in a city that they love. They hope that this new program opens their doors to more Lakeland residents to change their lives for the better.
