ICE raids underway at Mexican restaurants in Opelika-Auburn area

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – Law enforcement has confirmed immigration enforcement raids took place at multiple Mexican restaurants across Lee County, including locations in the Auburn-Opelika area.

A heavy law enforcement presence was observed at El Jefe, a Mexican restaurant near the Auburn-Opelika Mall. Witnesses reported seeing federal agents entering the building, Auburn patrol units and unmarked vehicles surrounding the area.

At this hour, details remain limited, but Auburn Police confirm a press conference will be held at 3:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) to address the situation.
