Haz-Mat team investigates Mountain View pool

(KRON) — A Haz-Mat team investigated a pool in a Mountain View apartment complex on Villa Street Monday after a pool technician became ill from inhaling chemicals.

The Mountain View Fire Department received a 911 call reporting that the technician had been mixing chlorine and muriatic acid in the swimming pool’s equipment room.

“The mixture resulted in an inhalation exposure of toxic fumes, which caused the pool technician to self-transport to local urgent care before firefighters arrived,” MVFD wrote.

The Haz-Mat team conducted tests and confirmed that the chemicals released were not toxic, and ensured there was no active leaking of chemicals.

“The scene was turned over to facilities management to ensure the pool system is operational before reopening to the residents,” MVFD wrote.
