Former Nickelworld arcade in Rockford rebrands as QuarterWorld

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The former NickelWorld arcade on N. Main Street is now QuarterWorld, and the cost of the games has gone up.

The business made the name change on Tuesday with new signage outside the arcade, located at 3321 N. Main Street, although its Facebook page and website

list the new name as QuarterArcade.

The company also announced it would be temporarily shortening its operating hours, from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday.

QuarterWorld charges a $2.25 admission fee to anyone who walks onto the game room floor, and then .25 cents per game. Many classic video games, such as Pacman, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Gyrus, Joust, Moon Patrol, Frogger and Galaga, can be played for free.

QuarterWorld is owned by Kim Hachmeister and has operated for nearly 30 years. In 2024, Hachmeister predicted that inflation would force her to change the name one day.
