RAYNE, La. (
KLFY) — The family of Joshua Brandon Marshall is breaking their silence. This comes after Rayne police said
Marshall’s body was found floating in a pond last Tuesday. With the help of the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office, the body was recovered. Marshall’s daughter, Hailey Chiasson, says the family is at a loss for words.
“Everybody’s heartbroken,” said Chiasson. “It was unexpected.””
Chiasson says her mother called her and notified of her father’s death on Wednesday morning, the day after her father’s body was found. She says the call was shocking.
“I was so surprised,” said Chiasson. “I woke up to the news, I was late for work, thinking it was a different phone call.”
Despite this loss, Marshall’s loved ones say they will always hold onto the memories of his laughs, kindness and willingness to help others.
“He made everybody laugh,” said Chiasson. “No matter how sad you could be, how you felt he was going to make you laugh till you cried, always, he never had a mean bone in his body, was never mean, never aggressive towards anybody.”
Chiasson says she still has many questions on what could have led to her father’s death. She says she hopes the truth will come to the light.
“We want to find out the truth of what happened and what went down because he wasn’t suicidal, he wouldn’t have inflicted that onto himself,” said Chiasson.
News 10 reached out to the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office and they tell us a cause of death has not yet been determined.
The Rayne Police Department says this suspicious death is still under investigation.
