Court docs: Tinder meet-up in Bloomington ends in alleged rape

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A man is accused of raping a woman after a Tinder meet-up in Bloomington.

Atajan Muhatdinov, 32, of Fairfax, Virginia, is charged with two counts of rape, a Level 3 felony.

According to court documents, Bloomington police were called to a hospital at 11:21 a.m. on July 11 to speak with a woman who stated she’d been raped the night before near Upland Brewery.

The victim said she’d met Muhatdinov through the dating app, Tinder, and the two had gone on a date at the brewery. After dinner and a few drinks, the victim claimed Muhatdinov forced himself on her while they were sitting on a bench in a nearby park.

Muhatdinov then allegedly raped the victim in her vehicle shortly afterward.

Investigators said the victim gave a detailed account of the two sexual assaults. Nurses later noted bruising on different parts of the woman’s body that seemed to align with her allegations.

When investigators spoke to Muhatdinov, he was less forthcoming with information and claimed not to have forced himself upon the woman, according to court documents.

Muhatdinov did admit that the victim told him there would be “no sex” but stated that he had been in the United States for five years and “knew the rules,” adding that the victim had “laughed” after telling him there would be no sex.

If convicted of a Level 3 felony, Muhatdinov could face up to 16 years in prison.
