One of those businesses is Pearl Events Austin, owner Becky Levin Navarro said she wanted to help the families that lost loved ones by planning funerals and celebrations of life.
She said she made a post on social media about helping and many people immediately responded.
“I think this hits very close to home and I think people especially in our industry just didn’t know how to give,” said Levin Navarro. “So, as soon as we said we can help in this way it turned on a light bulb, besides giving monetary donations, this is a way they can give.”
Pearl Events Austin was also joined by other event planning companies like Whitt Ross.
“My cousin lost one of her daughters in the flood and I feel very helpless in not being able to do anything, and this is just one tiny step towards being able to give in any way that we can,” said Whit Ross owner, Camille Ross.
Levin Navarro said catering companies, venues and many others in the event planning space have come together to cover all costs for a funeral.
“It is a daunting process planning the next steps,” said Levin Navarro.
As the search continues for the missing across Central Texas, these event planning companies want the families to know they are there to help.
“There have been 8 people who have reached out, a couple of them are from Houston,” said Levin Navarro.
