Three teens pled not guilty in St. Tammany Parish sergeant’s death

St. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Three Slidell teens accused in the death investigation of a St. Tammany Parish sergeant pled not guilty to their charges.

According to the 22nd Judicial court, on March 23 sergeant Grant Candies was hit and killed by a vehicle while deploying a spike strip in an attempt to stop a vehicle during a high-speed pursuit.

The court said 17-year-olds Adrian Waughtal and Mason Fischer were charged with second-degree murder. 18-year-old Micheal Lanier was charged with manslaughter. They each face additional charges as well.

They are slated to go on trial Oct. 6.
