
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — The Indiana State Police released a statement on Saturday that their support had been requested in an investigation after an inmate was found dead.
According to the press release, the jail’s staff found an unresponsive woman in her cell early Saturday morning, around 3:15 a.m. Staff immediately began life-saving measures until EMTs could take over.
The inmate, Janette Navarro, 28, was pronounced dead at the jail.
The cause of death is unknown at this time, and an autopsy is scheduled for July 15 at Western Michigan University.
