Around 7:30 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 22400 block of Northwest Dairy Creek Road because of a hit-run crash involving a cyclist. Passersby told deputies they found a woman who had been hit by a vehicle overnight while riding her bike and the driver had left the scene.
The cyclist essentially spent the night alone in a ditch, officials said, while suffering from serious injuries to her leg and face, before she was discovered Sunday morning.
She was taken to a hospital by ambulance and her current condition has not been released at this time.
Just before 11 a.m. the same morning, deputies responded to a traffic crash in the area of Northwest Old Cornelius Pass Road and Cornelius Pass Road.
Witnesses at the scene told deputies a cyclist going north crossed the road directly in the path of an oncoming vehicle traveling the opposite way.
Deputies said the cyclist, a 55-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken to a trauma center where he remains in critical condition.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, officials said, and added no crimes are being investigated in this incident.
Anyone with information on either of these crashes is encouraged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
