LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Police in Lexington are actively investigating after a Sunday afternoon shooting on Old Richmond Road.

It happened just before 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, according to an announcement on X from Kentucky State Police (KSP). Troopers wrote that a man shot a trooper and then ran from the scene to the Richmond Road Baptist Church, where authorities said there were “multiple other victims.”

Lexington police reportedly blocked off the area, directing traffic for the public’s safety.

“Please follow all directions given by officers and use alternative routes,” department officials wrote. “Officers will remain in the area until the investigation is complete.”

KSP wrote that the trooper who was shot is getting medical attention, with emergency personnel at the scene treating several others who were shot.

FOX 56 has reached out to Lexington authorities to get more information, and law enforcement officials said updates will be given when they’re available.
