“We have a community yard sale but it’s not a sale. It’s a giveaway,” Roseland Community Hospital Foundation Interim Executive Director Nikia McGee said. “We get a lot of donations especially for pampers and clothing and different things like that, and once we get a whole bunch of items in our store house, we put on something like this in order to make room for the next donation bunch.”
For some neighbors, the event was also about helping others.
“It’s a blessing to bless someone who might need something. There’s a lot of babies out here who need pampers, so I just grabbed one for my nephew,” one neighbor said.
Organizers said they host the giveaway at least twice a year and accept new and gently used items.
“If there is anyone who is watching this and has need, they can contact us directly…main lobby of the hospital,” McGee said.
Those looking to make a donation can also reach out to the hospital’s foundation.
