Reedley PD commander accused of driving patrol car while drunk, off-duty

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Reedley Police Commander is accused of driving an unmarked patrol car while under the influence Friday night.

The California Highway Patrol says Commander Gary Kincaid was off-duty when officers pulled him over around 10 p.m.

Kincaid was cited with DUI at the scene, and both he and the car were released to the department.

CHP says they were conducting a Rapid Arrest of Intoxicated Drivers (RAID) operation when they responded to a report of a reckless driver not using headlights on southbound Highway 41 at Bullard Avenue.

CHP said that while speaking with Kincaid, he displayed “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication.”

According to Reedley Police, Kincaid was recently promoted to Operations Commander in February this year after being with the department for just over a decade.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
