According to the event organizers, over 1,200 athletes with intellectual disabilities from all 36 counties gathered to compete in track & field, softball, golf and bocce, with an emphasis on “inclusion, determination and camaraderie.”
Athletes there also competed for their spot in the 2026 Special Olympics USA games, which will be held in Minneapolis.
The games even featured KOIN 6 News’ own Travis Teich, who emceed the opening ceremonies Saturday night.
