Person suffers life-threatening injuries in Fairfield fire
(KRON) — One person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries suffered in an early morning fire in Fairfield Saturday, according to the Fairfield Fire Department.

The fire ignited shortly after midnight in the backyard of a home between Burbank Court and Kolob Drive.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a large, detached structure burning in the backyard. The fire was spreading to a fence and tree line a neighboring property.

“While conducting fire suppression operations, FFD personnel discovered an injured civilian in the detached structure,” FFD said. “After the patient was removed from the structure, emergency medical care was initiated by FFD paramedics.”

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center. No other information on the victim’s condition is available at this time.

Embers from the burning cypress trees blew downwind of the fire and onto neighboring homes. Firefighters checked the area and confirmed that no other fires were burning.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $200,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other people were injured in the fire.
