
The U.S. Department of Labor reported 11,692 new initial unemployment claims during the week of July 5 in the state. That’s 417 fewer claims than the previous week, and the third straight decrease.
Numbers remained healthy nationally. The Labor Department said that new jobless claims fell by 5,000 to 227,000, fewer than the 238,000 that analysts forecast.
The Commonwealth remains below the national unemployment average.
The PA Department of Labor recorded the state’s unemployment rate at 3.9% in May, showing no change since April. It expects to release figures for June next week.
