NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — On July 11, at approximately 11:46 p.m., the Louisiana State Police reported that a two-vehicle crash on I-49 north claimed the life of a Natchitoches woman.

According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop E, the initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Dodge Charger and a 2018 Cadillac XTS, driven by 76-year-old Marie A. Lacour of Natchitoches, were involved.

For reasons still under investigation, Lacour failed to slow down and rear-ended the Cadillac. “After impact, the Cadillac overturned and ejected Lacour from the vehicle.”

LSP claims that Lacour was not restrained, sustained severe injuries, and was transported to a local medical facility, where she was pronounced dead.  Troop E reportedly sent a toxicology sample and submitted it for analysis.

‘While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state.  Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving.  A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences,’ concludes LSP Troop E.
