STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A 41-year-old man wanted out of Culpeper was arrested after a Friday manhunt in Stafford County, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 10:30 a.m., Fauquier County deputies spotted a wanted man, Christopher Stanley, in the area of the Country Wood Estates. Stanley was wanted out of Culpeper on charges of extortion, using threatening messages, and contempt of court.

Once Stanley saw the deputy, he ran, prompting a search by Stafford County deputies. Crews used K-9 and drones in the search, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Hours later, around 5 p.m., a citizen notified deputies of a suspicious person on Equestrian Lane matching the description of Stanley.

There, deputies arrested him with the help of the Blue Ridge Task Force Fugitive Unit. Deputies add that while he was taken into custody, controlled substances were found on his person.

Deputies say Stanley was served on his outstanding warrants and charged with possession of controlled substances before being transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

He is being held on a $4,000 secured bond.
