GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (ABC4) — Additional evacuation orders were issued after the Dragon Bravo Fire burning along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon increased in size overnight.

As of 11:30 a.m., the fire is estimated to be at 5,000 acres in size and at zero percent containment. Because of the increased activity of the fire, mandatory evacuation orders were issued to all remaining residents along the North Rim of the canyon late Friday night.

The entire North Rim remains closed to all visitor use until further notice to support firefighting operations on this fire and to ensure public safety for this fire and for crews fighting the nearby White Sage Fire.

The Dragon Bravo Fire began on July 4 due to a lightning strike in the area. There are currently 70 personnel fighting the fire. So far, there are no reports of structures threatened or lost. Visitors to the South Rim of the canyon will notice increased smoke as fire suppression efforts continue.
