Body believed to be missing 8-year-old discovered; final ID from coroner’s office pending

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A person of interest is in custody after Dayton Police & Fire discovered a body believed to be a missing 8-year-old.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will make the final determination as to whether the body is that of Hershall Creachbaum, who had been missing since early Saturday morning.

Officials said Creachbaum, a non-verbal person with autism, went missing from the 400 block of Xenia Avenue at approximately 3:30 a.m. He uses a wheelchair but can walk short distances. The wheelchair had been found previously.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
