ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Abilene’s next generation of movers and shakers got a leg up on their career aspirations today.

Local entrepreneurs ages six to 14 made their way to the Mall of Abilene for the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Children’s Business Fair. Kids got the chance to create their own products or services to sell, build their brand, and set up shop for the day.

KTAB/KRBC spoke with aspiring Abilene entrepreneur Makela Patterson. Her venture “Marvelous Makings” took home the award for Best Business Potential last year, 2024.

“But I’m really excited and a slight bit nervous. I wasn’t sure what they were going to buy, but now that I got some customers, I am really excited for this event,” Patterson shared.

The event was well-attended at the Mall of Abilene, wrapping up around 2:00 p.m.
