Woman found dead on east side of Indianapolis

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 8 p.m. on Friday, officers were called to the 1500 block of North Downey Avenue on a report of a disturbance with a weapon.

Officers arrived to find an adult female with trauma wounds; she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police detained a person of interest on the scene, they were later arrested for murder.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the name of the victim has not been released.
