LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — An Auburn men’s basketball star was arrested Saturday for allegedly driving under the influence.

According to Lee County Jail records, Tahaad Alexander Pettiford was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Jail records show that Pettiford’s bond was set at $1,000.

In May, Pettiford announced that he was withdrawing from the 2025 NBA draft to return for his sophomore season with the Tigers.

Pettiford came off the bench for 37 of Auburn’s 38 games last season and averaged 11.6 per contest. Following his return announcement, he was the only scholarship player returning from this year’s Final Four team.

This is the second student athlete for the Tigers arrested this week, as On3 reported that linebacker D’Angelo Barber was one of two arrested in Dadeville on Monday. On3 said the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force found 2.5 pounds of marijuana and a gun.

Barber was charged with trafficking marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
