On July 9, deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2100 block of Crain Highway around 3:20 a.m. after a group of kids was spotted walking through an apartment complex, possibly breaking into cars.
When deputies arrived, they watched one of the teens enter a Hyundai Elantra and begin driving away. Authorities pulled the car over, and that’s when four people jumped out and began running.
Shortly after, deputies detained three juveniles: a 12-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old. The fourth person ran away.
The 13-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with a juvenile offense report and released to their parents.
However, the 12-year-old was not charged, per the Maryland law.
The sheriff’s office said the car had just been stolen.
