SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — Happy weekend, Utah! We have another weekend with warm, dry weather on deck!
We kick off the weekend with temperatures right around where they should be for this time of year in the north and a few degrees above in the south. That translates to daytime highs in the low to mid 90s for most valleys, and low to mid 100s for St. George and other hot spots. Clear skies are expected statewide with smoky conditions in the southwest corner of the state.
By the close of the weekend dry conditions are still expected across the Beehive State, but a bit more moisture will be ushered in. The north stays clear while southern Utah sees a slight uptick in cloud cover, but nothing significant. With the heat of the day, we can’t rule out the chance of a brief thunderstorm in mountainous terrain, but ultimately, it’ll be another pleasant day. Temperatures are also on the rise with Sunday’s high temperatures climbing a few more degrees into the mid and upper 90s for most, and mid to upper 100s for the hot spots.
Temperatures continue the upward trend as we get into the workweek. Upper 90s are in store for valleys on Monday, possibly even joining the triple digit club, while St. George is forecasted to reach a scorching 110 degrees! On Tuesday things start cooling down in southern Utah but will still be far from cool with highs still in the low to mid 100s for hot spots. However, northern Utah holds onto upper 90s and low 100s until the midweek when we cool back down to our average temperatures in the mid 90s.
We’re lacking precipitation in the forecast for the next seven days, so our fire fuels continue to dry out. Winds pick up Tuesday and Wednesday, and when you couple that with the heat and lack of moisture and we could see critical fire conditions. Stay tuned!
The bottom line? Warm, dry weather is expected for the foreseeable future with triple digits making a comeback in northern Utah.
